Information for LfA Fellows
Required Disclosures
Employers are required to make a variety of types of information available to their employees. This is typically done by hanging posters in a staff lounge or equivalent common room in a workplace. Since LfA has no common physical location, this page serves as the staff lounge: below you will find all the information required to be posted. Your work sites will likely have all this information posted, but the details – such as the name of insurance carriers – will of course not apply to you.
A comprehensive list of information employers must make available is here: https://www.dir.ca.gov/wpnodb.html. For information that employers must make available to employees in San Francisco, please visit: https://sfgov.org/olse//workplace-postings. For most types of required information you will find links on those pages to the actual posters.

CA Wage Theft Prevention Act (Labor Code section 2810.5) notice
This serves as the notice required under this section of California law: Your employer’s legal name is Lawyers for America; its physical and mailing address is 200 McAllister Street, San Francisco, CA 94102; its telephone number is 415-565-4676. Your start date is the date in August or September that you chose by agreement with your placement site supervisor and reported to LfA. Rate of pay: for the Class of 2027, salary of$62,000 + stipend for health benefits; payable biweekly. A written agreement provides the rate of pay. Regular payday is alternate Fridays.
New fellows will have the option of receiving a two-week advance paycheck prior to their work start date, with the understanding that two later paychecks will be reduced to adjust for this advance (with notice and generally with consultation).
LfA provides for one hour of paid sick leave to accrue for each 30 hours worked, with an accrual cap of 72 hours of paid sick leave. Unused leave is not payable at termination of employment. Further information about sick leave is in each individual employment agreement. The poster covering sick leave may be found here: https://www.dir.ca.gov/DLSE/Publications/Paid_Sick_Days_Poster_Template_(11_2014).pdf.
Injuries caused by work/workers’ compensation: LfA carries workers’ compensation insurance. If you suffer a workplace injury the first priority is to attend to your medical condition, and then immediately notify LfA (Marsha Cohen, Executive Director, cohenm@uclawsf.edu, 415-565-4676). The workers’ compensation insurance carrier’s name is The Hartford. Its address is The Hartford Business Service Center, 3600 Wiseman Blvd., San Antonio TX 78251; its telephone number is (877) 287-1316. The policy number is 76WEGZQ8069.
